Launching Alex and Kayla’s 2025 field season on Sapelo Island in style- by which we mean a backfiring golf cart. But it wasn’t all joyrides and golf cart races down the autobahn. We explored some stunning wetlands, confirmed that the island is approximately 80% frog by volume, and made generous donations to the local insectery. Perhaps most importantly, we found some toad tadpoles thriving in surprisingly salty water, reminding us once again that our so-called “freshwater” friends love that salt life too.
